Vol. 450 No. 6

Written Answers. - Roads Funding.

Noel Dempsey

Question:

97 Mr. Dempsey asked the Minister for the Environment the amount of funds from the national Exchequer allocated to non-national roads in each of the years since 1990; and the amounts of European moneys allocated for such roads in each of the years 1993 and 1994. [5460/95]

Details of grants paid to local authorities for non-national roads in the years 1990-94 are set out in the reply to Question No. 129 of 24 January, 1995. The State grant provision for non-national roads in 1995 is £102.898 million. EU grant aid receipts in respect of expenditure on these roads amounted to £10.937 million and £15.313 million in 1993 and 1994 respectively.

Joe Walsh

Question:

98 Mr. J. Walsh asked the Minister for the Environment if he will increase the special grant for the Glengarriff/ Castletownbere road, County Cork. [5468/95]

Under the EU co-financed scheme of specific grants for improvement works on non-national roads, Cork County Council has been allocated a grant of £500,000 for the R572 Glengarriff-Castletownbere road. This is the amount the council applied for. There are no further funds available to me for allocation under the scheme in 1995.
