Vol. 465 No. 6

Written Answers. - Opportunity Europe Programme.

Máire Geoghegan-Quinn

Question:

60 Mrs. Geoghegan-Quinn asked the Minister for Tourism and Trade the assistance, if any, that is available for Irish companies in the Opportunity Europe Programme; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [7443/96]

The Opportunity Europe Programme is administered by An Bord Tráchtála, and, as such, is a day-to-day matter for the board and is not the direct responsibility of my Department.

The programme is a marketing initiative designed by ABT specifically to assist exporters to commit themselves fully to developing the enormous business potential of the continental European market. The programme is consistent with the Government policy of continued diversification into Europe.
