Vol. 469 No. 2

Written Answers. - Investigation of Company.

Noel Davern

Question:

131 Mr. Davern asked the Minister for Enterprise and Employment if his attention has been drawn to the activities and practices of a company (details supplied) in Dublin 2; if officials from his Department have carried out any investigations in relation to this company; if so, the action, if any, they deem necessary following their investigations; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [17046/96]

The company to which the Deputy refers is not registered in this jurisdiction with the Companies Registration Office. The registrar has written to the address provided to apprise the principals of their obligations under Part XI of the Companies Act, 1963.

I reiterate the views of others, in particular the Minister of State, with responsibility for European Affairs, Deputy Mitchell, that there is no necessity for any enterprise to engage the services of others, especially those who require an upfront fee, in making application for grant support or any other form of assistance provided by the European Community.

The public should be aware that a Government directory detailing all EU funding opportunities, entitled European Funding in Ireland, is widely available free of charge from the Government Information Services.
