Vol. 470 No. 8

Adjournment Debate Matters.

I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given under Standing Order 21 and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy Frances Fitzgerald — delays in testing for cervical cancer; (2) Deputy Lynch — the need to introduce a "clean slate" mechanism after a specified period of time for those previously convicted of a minor offence; (3) Deputy Crawford — the need to change the national lottery rules in order to avoid a situation of the kind which arose recently whereby a sum of £1 million pounds was added to an already unduly large prize fund; (4) Deputy Eric Byrne — the need to establish a special task force to tackle long-term unemployment in the north and south inner city areas of Dublin; (5) Deputy Ned O'Keeffe — the failure of the Minister for Education to address the problems at Gaelscoil Tomás Dáibhís, Mallow, County Cork; (6) Deputy Lawlor — the need for the Minister for the Environment to co-ordinate the National Roads Authority, Fingal County Council and his Department to enable the northern cross motorway to open earlier than scheduled; (7) Deputy Michael Smith — the need for the Minister for Enterprise and Employment to take action to sustain jobs at a company (details supplied) in County Tipperary in view of the serious economic consequences of job losses in such a severely disadvantaged area. The matters raised by Deputies Crawford, Frances Fitzgerald, Eric Byrne and Michael Smith have been selected for discussion.
