Vol. 470 No. 8

Written Answers. - Dental Service.

Noel Ahern

Question:

73 Mr. N. Ahern asked the Minister for Health the dental treatment facilities currently available to a 75 year-old widow who is on a combined United Kingdom-Irish widows contributory pension in view of the fact that the Eastern Health Board seems unable to offer a service. [20136/96]

Limerick East): Under the Health Acts the entitlement of adults to the dental treatment services provided by health boards is determined by medical card eligibility. If the Deputy gives me details of the case I will ask the chief executive officer of the Eastern Health Board to review the position of this person and to reply to the Deputy as a matter of urgency.

Seamus Brennan

Question:

74 Mr. S. Brennan asked the Minister for Health if he will have arrangements made for an immediate investigation into a case (details supplied) in Dublin 16, involving a child diagnosed for orthodontic treatment in 1988, who was subsequently relegated to category 3 in 1992, and has now been told by the Dental Hospital that it should be a category 2 case at least; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [20142/96]

Limerick East): As the provision of orthodontic treatment of eligible persons in Dublin 16 is the statutory responsibility of the Eastern Health Board, I have asked the chief executive officer of the Eastern Health Board to investigate the position in relation to this case and to reply to the Deputy directly as a matter of urgency.
