Vol. 477 No. 1

Written Answers. - Cregg House, Sligo.

Mary Wallace

Question:

116 Miss M. Wallace asked the Minister for Health the position regarding the funding of the hydrotherapy pool at Cregg House, Sligo, in view of the fact that it has been lying idle for two years due to the fact that his Department refused to fund its running costs; his views on the fact that parents of handicapped children in the Sligo area are claiming to be deserted and abandoned by politicians and the Government in view of the fact that the £520,000 pool and recreation hall have been lying idle since they were completed in June 1994; the current position in this regard; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [8582/97]

I am pleased to inform the Deputy that additional funding of £100,000 was included in the 1997 allocation made by my Department to Cregg House. This funding is being used to recruit the staff required to manage the hydrotherapy pool/recreational facilities.
