Question:

287 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Health and Children the number of people in the Western Health Board region suffering from diabetes; the number of these who must go to Dublin for treatment; the number of these in need of specialised treatment; the specialised treatment that is available for diabetes sufferers; the number of doctors and nurses in the Western Health Board region that provide a specialised service for diabetes sufferers; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The provision of services in this instance is the responsibility of the Western Health Board. My Department has asked the chief executive officer of the board to reply to the Deputy directly.
