83 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Finance if he will consider favourably the pre-budget submissions of a person (details supplied) in Dublin 8 regarding the open your eyes to child poverty initiative, sponsored by Barnardos, Children's Rights Alliance, Combat Poverty Agency, Focus Ireland, National Youth Council of Ireland, Pavee Point, People with Disabilities in Ireland and the Society of St. Vincent de Paul; and if he will make a statement on the matter. 85 Ms Fitzgerald asked the Minister for Finance if the Budget 2000 taxation package will be subject to the NAPS poverty proofing guidelines. [28071/00]

I would like to confirm for the Deputy that the income tax provisions in the forthcoming budget will be poverty proofed having regard to the official guidelines on the matter and paragraph 1.1.5 of the Programme for Prosperity and Fairness.

Responsibility for poverty proofing of expenditure measures rests with spending Departments.

86 Ms Fitzgerald asked the Minister for Finance if the budget tax package poverty proofing outcomes will be available on budget day. [28072/00]

I do not propose to comment, at this stage, on the precise material which will be available on budget day. However, I would like to assure the Deputy that the income tax provisions in the forthcoming budget will be poverty proofed having regard to the official guidelines on the matter.
