Vol. 528 No. 2

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Jim Higgins

Question:

112 Mr. Higgins (Mayo) asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development the reason for the non-payment to date of headage or suckler grant to a person (details supplied) in County Mayo. [29903/00]

A herdowner must submit a valid area aid application for the relevant year in order to be considered for area aid related payments. No area aid application was received from the person named for 2000 and consequently payment in respect of his application under the 2000 cattle headage scheme cannot issue.

As payment on up to 15 livestock units may issue under the EU premia schemes without a valid area aid application, the person named was paid the 60% advance of £619.03 under the 2000 suckler cow premium scheme on 30 November 2000 based on his suckler cow quota of seven cows and the 60% advance of £57.64 under the 2000 special beef premium scheme on 27 November 2000 based on one animal.
