The Government in authorising the purchase of the Farmleigh Estate stated that it should include such uses as accommodation for visiting Heads of State and other dignitaries; a venue for international and governmental meetings requiring residential accommodation and any other State or cultural purposes for the benefit of the Irish people. In addition, the Government recognises that it is important that public access to the House and estate be facilitated to the greatest extent possible, consistent with the uses outlined above.
At this stage there are no plans to make the conferencing facilities available to private groups for an appropriate fee but this matter will be revisited from time to time having regard to the planned uses by the State.
