Vol. 535 No. 1

Request to move Adjournment of Dáil under Standing Order 31.

Before coming to the Order of Business, I propose to deal with a notice of motion under Standing Order 31, from Deputy Frances Fitzgerald.

I wish to seek the Adjournment of the Dáil under Standing Order 31, to discuss a matter of national interest, requiring urgent consideration, namely the failure of the State to comply with High Court rulings on the provision of secure accommodation for young people, which has resulted in a 15 year old boy being detained at a Garda station in Donnybrook for the past two nights.

Having considered the matter fully, I do not consider it to be contemplated by Standing Order 31, therefore I cannot grant leave to move the motion.
