Vol. 535 No. 1

Written Answers - Visa Applications.

Brendan Howlin

Question:

501 Mr. Howlin asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if, in respect of a Macedonian national whose visa is due to expire on 8 May 2001, he has received an application for permission to remain here indefinitely on the grounds that the father of this person's child is Irish; the current status of this application; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [11449/01]

The person in question has recently been granted permission to remain in the State as the parent of an Irish citizen. As is standard procedure in such cases, this permission has been granted for a period of 12 months initially.
