Vol. 535 No. 3

Written Answers - Public Safety Authority.

Brendan Howlin

Question:

74 Mr. Howlin asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment the progress which has been made in consideration of the need for a new authority with overall responsibility for public safety; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [12191/01]

The Government has received the report of the interdepartmental-agency review group on public safety which was published last December. We are still considering the implications of the group's report, including the recommendation to establish an office of public safety regulation, which requires consultation with Government colleagues.

Question No. 75 answered with Question No. 23.
