Adjournment Debate Matters.

I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given under Standing Order 21 and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy Hayes – the need to clarify the position in respect of lands at Kingswood Heights, Dublin 24, which are needed to provide playing pitches for local schools and teams in the area; (2) Deputy McGuinness – the need to establish new procedures in the compulsory purchase of land for road construction and to protect the rights of landowners and local communities; (3) Deputy Ring – the position regarding an extension to a primary school (details supplied) in County Mayo; (4) Deputy Enright – the need to direct the industrial agencies to give priority status to the midland region to address the income imbalance which shows Offaly as having the lowest per capita income in the country; (5) Deputy Gerard Reynolds – the need for Our Lady's Primary School in Sligo to retain a second teaching post under the urban cycle of disadvantage scheme; (6) Deputy Perry – the need to make funding available for the conservation of the O'Hara Carriages, which were gifted to the State in 1952 and are in storage in the National Museum's facility in Inchicore as they are to be returned to their home region and will be a focal point in a transport museum in County Sligo; (7) Deputy Healy – the need to properly resource the maternity department at St. Joseph's Hospital, Clonmel, including the appointment of a third consultant obstetrician/gynaecologist, additional midwives, non-consultant hospital doctors and non-consultant anaesthetic staff, support staff and equipment; (8) Deputy Stanton – the need to make available more resources to encourage British tourists to holiday in Ireland this year; (9) Deputy O'Shea – the need to respond to the Heritage Council report on architectural heritage which reported that one-third of the State's monuments and stone structures are significantly damaged or suffering neglect; (10) Deputy Crawford – the need to indicate when farm to farm sales of livestock may recommence; and (11) Deputy Coveney – the need to increase the level of resources and staff numbers for the Customs National Drug Team to make a greater impact on the prevention of drug smuggling.

The matters raised by Deputies Enright, Hayes, Healy and Stanton have been selected for discussion.
