Vol. 541 No. 2

Written Answers. - Portuguese Immigration Laws.

Austin Deasy

Question:

917 Mr. Deasy asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if he has expressed his concern at Portugal's lax immigration laws; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [22042/01]

I have not expressed any concerns along the lines described by the Deputy. All persons entering Ireland from outside the common travel area between Ireland and the UK are subject to systematic immigration controls upon arrival.
