Vol. 542 No. 2

Written Answers. - Driving Tests.

Austin Deasy

Question:

368 Mr. Deasy asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the average waiting time in Waterford city for a driving test from the time of application; and the number of applicants awaiting tests at this centre. [23690/01]

The current average waiting time for a driving test in Waterford is 16 weeks. There are 1,825 applicants awaiting a driving test in Waterford. Of these, 599 applicants have been scheduled for a test and 191 are currently unavailable to take up an appointment. With effect from 22 October a second test centre will open in Waterford and this will assist in reducing waiting times in the area.
