Written Answers. - Garda Stations.

Bernard Allen

Question:

468 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the number of Garda stations in the Cork city and county area; the locations and the official addresses of each station; the total number of gardaí available for operational duties in each station; the total number of gardaí involved solely in clerical and administrative duties; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [24251/01]

I am informed by the Garda authorities, which are responsible for the detailed allocation of personnel and resources to individual areas, that there are 89 Garda stations in the three divisions in County Cork. There are 18 in Cork city division, 28 in Cork north division and 43 in Cork west division. The current total personnel strength of these stations, as at 1 October 2001, is 1,102. All members are available for operational duties. I am further informed that there are currently 23 members of the Garda Síochána allocated to administrative duties at these stations. A list of the locations and official addresses will be forwarded to the Deputy separately.
