Vol. 546 No. 3

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Deirdre Clune

Question:

272 Ms Clune asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if he will amend the regulations in the case of a person (details supplied) in County Limerick; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [31718/01]

It is a condition of payment of individual water supply grants that, on completion of the grant aided works, the water supply is satisfactory both in terms of quality and quantity. Last year, in accordance with a recommendation of the National Rural Water Monitoring Committee, I approved a reduction from ten to seven years in the eligibility timeframe for repeat grant applications. I have no proposals at this time to further modify the qualifying conditions for grant purposes, which are intended to optimise the distribution of the funding available under the scheme.
