61 Mr. Howlin asked the Minister for Health and Children if his Department has been approached by private concerns in the United States and Australia regarding the possible pur chase of a stake in the private facilities in public hospitals; his views on such a proposal; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I am advised by the Eastern Regional Health Authority that Beaumont Hospital has been in contact with a number of private companies, including one Australian concern, in relation to a possible private development on the campus of the hospital. The hospital has not entered into negotiations with any specific company.
The ERHA and Beaumont Hospital have undertaken to keep my Department informed of all developments in relation to any developments in this area.
