Vol. 562 No. 4

Written Answers - Legislative Programme.

Caoimhghín Ó Caoláin

Question:

211 Caoimhghín Ó Caoláin asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs his legislative priorities for 2003 and for the remainder of the 29th Dáil. [6320/03]

The following are the legislative priorities, proposed at this stage, for the remainder of the current Dáil. It is not possible to provide a definitive list at this point as it is uncertain what other legislation may become a priority during the course of the coming years: a Bill to ratify the accession of ten new member states to the European Union will be brought before the Houses of the Oireachtas later this year; legislation may be required to take account of changes in the European economic area, following the accession of the new member states; and any legislative implications arising from a new European Union treaty to be agreed at the Intergovernmental Conference, which is to follow the current EU Convention on the Future of Europe, would have to be considered at the appropriate time.
