Question:

226 Mr. O'Shea asked the Minister for Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs when it was announced that ?1.5 million from subhead L - local development-social inclusions measures of the 2003 Estimates was for RAPID; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [27867/03]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 225 and 226 together.

In my Department's vote for 2003, subhead K1 provides an amount of €44.662 million for local development and social inclusion measures. This subhead provides funding for delivery of the local development social inclusion programme and supporting the implementation of the RAPID programme.

I should stress that the €1.5 million in subhead K1 is not available for individual projects in RAPID areas. The funding is provided to ADM to meet administration expenses and to provide support to RAPID area implementation teams.
