Business of Joint Committee

I remind Members to ensure that their mobile phones are switched off for the duration of the meeting as they can interfere with the broadcasting of the meeting, even when in silent mode. Are the minutes of 13 February agreed? Agreed.

I refer to No. 346 of 2024, an email from Deputy Cathal Crowe, referring to our public meeting on 13 February when the Minister for Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science, Deputy Harris, appeared before the committee to discuss key issues. The email reads:

I am writing to formally request a correction to my contribution at a recent meeting of our committee, where we had Minister Simon Harris taking questions relating to his ministry.

During my contribution, I suggested that the current presidential home on the University of Limerick campus is the third iteration of a presidential home for the university. I wish to correct the record because, in fact, this is the second presidential home.

Additionally, I suggested that this house may not be used on a permanent residential basis but have since established that it is.

I would be very grateful if you could correct the record on foot of my request.

Is what the Deputy is seeking agreed ? Agreed.

We will suspend briefly to allow the witnesses to take their seats.

Sitting suspended at 11.08 a.m. and resumed at 11.09 a.m.
