Vol. 23 No. 10

Suspension of Sitting.

As I have been given to understand that item No. 1—the motion for a time-table, in the name of Senator Quirke—is not being moved, and as we cannot proceed until we receive some business from the Dáil, I will now take a motion to suspend business until the First Amendment of the Constitution Bill has been received from the Dáil.

Have you any idea as to the probable time for reassembly?

I have not the slightest.

Say approximately 4.30 p.m.

Say not before 4.30 p.m.

There is no fixed time.

Am I to understand that the guillotine motion is being withdrawn?

Before moving my motion, I wish merely to state that I understand agreement has been reached in the Dáil between all Parties there that the guillotine motion be not moved in the Dáil and I take it that the same thing will apply here as general agreement is assumed in this House also, the idea being that, while the guillotine motion is not being moved, the House will be agreeable to act in the spirit of the motion and accommodate as far as possible the Government and the House in the carrying out of the legislation necessary at to-day's sitting. I accordingly move that business be now suspended until the First Amendment of the Constitution Bill has been received from the Dáil.

Agreed.

Sitting suspended and resumed at 4.15 p.m.
