Vol. 141 No. 17

Business of Seanad.

I have notice from Senator Neville that, on the motion for the Adjournment of the House today, he proposes to raise the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Health to introduce measures to assist in the prevention and reduction in the levels of suicide.

I have also received notice from Senator McGennis of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Arts, Culture and the Gaeltacht to make a statement on the Government's proposals for the public acquisition of 170 acres of land in the Liffey Valley, Lucan; if a price has been agreed with the owners and the likely time scale for the land to come into public ownership.

I have received notice from Senator Maloney of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Health to request the North-Western Health Board to cease the transfer of patients from St. Conal's Hospital to community based nursing units which is against the wishes of the patients.

I have also received notice from Senator Cosgrave of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Justice to examine the growing delays in cases coming to court, with the resultant hardship to those seeking legal redress.

I have also received notice from Senator Ross of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for the Marine to outline the up to date position regarding the proposed marina for Greystones. County Wicklow.

I regard the matters raised as suitable for discussion on the Adjournment. I have selected Senator Neville and Senator McGennis's matters and they will be taken at the conclusion of business. The other Senators may give notice on another day of the matters they wish to raise.
