Thursday, 30 Mar 1995

Vol. 142 No. 12

Business of Seanad.

I have received notice from Senator Cosgrave that, on the motion for the Adjournment of the House today, he wishes to raise the following matter:

The need for the Minister for the Environment to increase funding to the National Safety Council in order that a more intensive water safety publicity campaign can be launched this year.

I have also received notice from Senator Dardis of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Defence to provide an assurance that the Army School of Music and the Band of the Curragh Command will continue in existence.

I have also received notice from Senator Kelly of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Justice to examine the possibility of transferring the Garda responsibility for Croom and adjoining areas (County Limerick) from Askeaton to Limerick city.

I have also received notice from Senator Maloney of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for the Environment to make funding available as a matter of urgency to Donegal County Council in 1995 for the upgrading of the fire stations in Milford, Buncrana and Letterkenny.

I have also received notice from Senator Wall of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Education to outline the action she intends to take on foot of the 1991 report on the code of practice for safety at sports arenas and the concern of all sporting organisations at this inaction.

I regard the matters raised as suitable for discussion on the Adjournment. I have selected Senator Cosgrave's and Senator Dardis' matters and they will be taken at the conclusion of business. The other Senators may give notice on another day of the matters they wish to raise.
