Vol. 297 No. 1

Gnó an tSeanaid - Business of Seanad

I have received notice from the following Senators that they propose to raise the following matters:

Senators Aisling Dolan and Eugene Murphy – The need for the Minister for Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science to provide an update on plans for the development of a Galway and Roscommon Education and Training Board apprenticeship centre for County Roscommon.

Senator Rebecca Moynihan – The need for the Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage to make parallel funding available for community and supporting infrastructure when funding housing regeneration projects.

Senator Lorraine Clifford-Lee – The need for the Minister for Justice to provide an update on the construction of the new family law court complex at Hammond Lane, Dublin 7.

Senator Tom Clonan – The need for the Minister for Justice to make a statement on the approach to visa applications to reunite relatives of Irish families, particularly at a time of unprecedented conflict in the Middle East and elsewhere.

Senator Aidan Davitt – The need for the Minister for Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth to make a statement on the total annual expenditure in the operation of direct provision and related services and supports, and the total expenditure to date in the provision of accommodation, supports and services for refugees following Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

Senator Maria Byrne – The need for the Minister for Health to make a statement on the available supports for student nurses and midwives.

Senator Garret Ahearn – The need for the Minister for Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth to make a statement on the progress in the drafting of new regulations for childminders.

Senator Erin McGreehan – The need for the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine to make a statement on the delivery of a financial package to support farmers in County Louth in the aftermath of the destruction caused by the recent flooding.

Senator Fiona O'Loughlin – The need for the Minister for Transport to make a statement on plans to increase public transport connectivity in Kildare South.

Senator Sharon Keogan – The need for the Minister for Health to make a statement on Ireland's decision to opt out of the amendment made to Article 59 of the International Health Regulations, which was adopted on 27 May 2022 by the World Health Assembly.

Senator Tim Lombard – The need for the Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage to provide an update on the proposed affordable housing scheme for Kinsale, including timelines for the completion of the scheme.

Of the matters raised by the Senators suitable for discussion, I have selected those of Senators Dolan and Murphy, who are sharing time, and Senators Moynihan, Clifford-Lee and Clonan. They will be taken now.

I regret that I had to rule out of order the matter raised by Senator O'Loughlin on the grounds that the relevant Minister has no official responsibility in the matter raised.

The other Senators may give notice on another day of the matters that they wish to raise.
