Vol. 297 No. 2

Gnó an tSeanaid - Business of Seanad

I have received notice from the following Senators that they propose to raise the following matters:

Senator John Cummins - The need for the Minister for Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science to make a statement on South East Technological University in respect of the timelines for the acquisition of the former Waterford Crystal site and the completion of the public private partnership bundle 2 process for the construction of an engineering, computing and general teaching building on the Cork Road campus.

Senator Maria Byrne - The need for the Minister for Health to make a statement on the available supports for student nurses and midwives.

Senator Martin Conway - The need for the Minister for Health to review and expand the list of authorised medicines available under the medical card and drugs refund schemes in light of the current medicine shortages in pharmacies.

Senator Seán Kyne - The need for the Minister for Rural and Community Development to make a statement on the 2023 community centres investment fund new builds measure.

Senator Mary Fitzpatrick - The need for the Minister for Education to provide an update on the Cabra Community College building development project.

Senator Fiona O'Loughlin - The need for the Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage to make a statement on plans to rectify the repeated water provision issues in the Allen-Kilmeague area of south Kildare.

Senator Tim Lombard - The need for the Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage to provide an update on the proposed affordable housing scheme for Kinsale, including timelines for completion of the scheme.

Of the matters raised by the Senators suitable for discussion, I have selected Senators Cummins, Maria Byrne, Conway and Kyne and they will be taken now. I regret that I have had to rule out of order the matter raised by Senator O'Loughlin on the ground that the relevant Minister has no official responsibility in the matter raised. The other Senators may give notice on another day of the matters that they wish to raise.
