Gnó an tSeanaid - Business of Seanad

I have received notice from the following Senators that they propose to raise the following matters:

Senator Malcolm Byrne - The need for the Minister of State with responsibility for the Office of Public Works, OPW, to provide an update on the development of the planned coastguard station at Courtown Harbour, County Wexford.

Senator Gerard P. Craughwell - The need for the Minister for Defence to make a statement on the protocols, terms and conditions of the recent memorandum of understanding on defence co-operation signed between Ireland and Romania.

Senator Tim Lombard - The need for the Minister for Transport to make a statement on the funding allocated to Cork County Council for national, regional and local road improvement works.

Senator Seán Kyne - The need for the Minister for Education to make a statement on the payment dates for minor works and information and communications technology grants for primary schools.

Senator Maria Byrne - The need for the Minister for Health to make a statement on staffing levels in diabetic paediatric services and its impact on the supply of diabetic pumps for patients.

Senator Ollie Crowe - The need for the Minister for Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth to reintroduce the motorised transport grant to allow people with disabilities to access employment, and to outline the alternatives, if any, in place for the grant.

Senator Robbie Gallagher - The need for the Minister for Transport to allocate emergency additional funding to local authorities to undertake repair and upgrade works on the local, regional and national road network in light of the unprecedented excessive rainfall in recent months and other climate change factors.

Senator Lisa Chambers - The need for the Minister for Public Expenditure, National Development Plan Delivery and Reform to make a statement on measures being taken to address the transition region status given to the west and north- west by the EU Commission. Of the matters raised by the Senators suitable for discussion, I have selected Senators Malcolm Byrne, Craughwell, Lombard, Kyne and Maria Byrne and they will be taken now. Senator Crowe has withdrawn his matter, which I had originally selected. I apologise to other Senators who are on the list and whose matters were not selected. It was late in the evening when I received this notification, so I could not pick an alternative. The other Senators may give notice on another day of the matters that they wish to raise.
