Deputy Brian Leddin asked the Minister for Public Expenditure, National Development Plan Delivery and Reform the costs of the ongoing maintenance and upkeep of all arterial drainage schemes over the past five years 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The Office of Public Works (OPW) is responsible for the maintenance of arterial drainage schemes completed under the Arterial Drainage Acts, 1945 and 1995, as amended. Some 2,100km of channel and some 135km of embankments are maintained annually.

The costs of the maintenance of these schemes over the past five years is detailed below :
