My Department and the National Transport Authority (NTA) are aware of the obligations on Member States and public sector organisations under the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD).

I can assure the Deputy that my Department and the NTA engage with stakeholders on an on-going basis in relation to responsibilities towards disabled people and persons with disabilities under the UNCRPD and national strategies such as the Public Sector Duty. In addition, the NTA is represented on relevant national groups, for example the Steering Group on the National Disability Inclusion Strategy and the Implementation Group on the Comprehensive Employment Strategy for People with Disabilities.

As the NTA would be able to advise you about its engagement with Disabled Persons' Organisations (DPOs), and organisations it has consulted with in relation to visually impaired people, I have forwarded your question to the NTA for direct reply to you. Please advise my private office if you do not receive a response within ten working days.

A referred reply was forwarded to the Deputy under Standing Order 51
