Deputy Michael Creed asked the Minister for Education if a person now resident and retired in the UK who worked in the Irish education system from 1973 to 1976 as a teacher is entitled to a refund of her social insurance contributions; and if she will make a statement on the matter. I wish to advise the Deputy that where persons consider that they may be entitled to a refund of social insurance contributions, they may apply to the Department of Social Protection for such a refund.

Details of the criteria for qualification in respect of a refund of contributions, and details of how persons can apply for a refund, is available at Prsi Refund (mywelfare.ie)
