Deputies and Senators turned out in large numbers to see the showcase, which examined ways to mitigate the risks associated with digital technologies and social media platforms.
Foróige, Ireland’s youth organisation, brought its digital showcase to LH2000 in Leinster House, where almost 80 TDs and Senators engaged with young people from around the country as they demonstrated youth work in virtual reality, coding, robotics, engineering, artificial intelligence and more.
The event also served to exhibit a new digital youth brand, Foróige Go - digital skills for what’s now and next. During the event TDs and Senators could use virtual reality to join a Foróige event taking place virtually and speak with young people participating from different parts of the country.
Mr. Seán Campbell, chief executive of Foróige, commented that the organisation is honoured to have the opportunity to showcase digital youth work, which has been part of the organisation for over 20 years.
The Ceann Comhairle, Deputy Seán Ó Fearghaíl, said: “The young people here today will show us all the future of the digital world and instil in us the confidence to embrace it”.
