11 May 2016, 12:26

The Oireachtas Committee on Housing and Homelessness will meet tomorrow Thursday, 12th May 2016 at 10:30am in Committee Room 3, Leinster House.

11th May 2016

The schedule for the meeting is as follows:

Session A: 10.30 a.m.

Housing and Homelessness [Representatives from the National Assets Management Agency]

Session B: 2.00 p.m.

Housing and Homelessness [Dublin Homeless Network; Limerick and Clare Homeless Alliance; Cork Social Housing Forum]

Chairman of the Committee, John Curran, says, “During the ongoing debate on how to remedy the housing problem, there has been some discussion of the role that NAMA could potentially play - in collaboration with other public bodies - in addressing the range of difficulties that are currently being experienced in relation to housing. Questions have been raised as whether or not NAMA could contribute towards the provision of social housing and as such, the Committee will be interested to discuss what role it could play in helping to alleviate the housing crisis.”

“In the afternoon session of our meeting, we will hear from groups from groups in Dublin, Limerick, Clare and Cork which represent a large number of voluntary bodies who provide ongoing services to homeless families. These services are now more vital than ever and we look forward to hearing how these bodies believe we can best tackle the crisis.”

Committee proceedings can be viewed live here.

The meeting will be carried live on Oireachtas TV, available on: Virgin Media Channel 207, eirVision Channel 504, Vodafone TV Channel 201 and Sky Channel 574.

Committee proceedings can also be viewed on the move, through the Houses of the Oireachtas Smartphone App, available for Apple and Android devices.
