Supports for homeowners and tenants to be discussed at Housing and Homelessness Committee

Chairman of the Committee, John Curran, says, “Homeowners and tenants alike can face many obstacles as they endeavour to keep their homes. There are thousands of citizens who are at risk of losing their homes and facing homelessness. Tomorrow’s meeting is a chance for the Committee to focus on the issues surrounding mortgage difficulties, the private rental sector and legal issues.”

“The housing emergency is one that requires an urgency of response, coupled with a focus on both short-term and long-term measures. We have already met with a number of frontline organisations involved in assistance to those dealing with homelessness throughout the country. Among the matters we hope to address tomorrow are rent supplement, mortgage supports and how to protect the rights of tenants and homeowners alike.”
