21 Sep 2016, 15:19

The Oireachtas Joint Standing Committee on the Irish Language, Gaeltacht and the Islands will meet at 2.15pm on 22 September 2016 with Conradh na Gaeilge to consider the role of the Conradh in promoting the use of Irish as a vernacular community language.

Committee Chairperson Catherine Connolly TD, said: “It is appropriate that the  Committee should begin its work by consulting with Conradh na Gaeilge, one of the primary bodies in promoting the language and one which has done so much to popularise it among young people. Conradh na Gaeilge has much to contribute and the Committee is looking forward to working closely with it and with other language organisations in the coming years.”

This meeting will take place in Committee Room 4, Leinster House from 2.15p, on Thursday, 22 September 2016.

Committee proceedings can be viewed live here.

Committee proceedings can also be viewed on the move, through the Houses of the Oireachtas Smartphone App, available for Apple and Android devices.
