Chair Designate of the Irish Auditing & Accounting Supervisory Authority will also appear before the Committee

14th December 2016

The Joint Committee on Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation will meet tomorrow to resume its consideration of the likely impact of Brexit on jobs and how to mitigate any risks involved therein.

Appearing before the Committee during this session will be:

•    Ms. Mary Mitchell O’Connor TD, Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation;
•    Mr. Pat Breen TD, Minister of State for Employment and Small Business, and;
•    Mr. John Halligan TD, Minister of State for Training and Skills.

Prior to this, the Committee will meet with Mr. Martin Sisk, Chairperson Designate, the Irish Auditing and Accounting Supervisory Authority.

Chairperson of the Joint Committee on Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation, Mary Butler TD, said, “Tomorrow’s meeting is our final in a series we have held on the likely impact of Brexit on jobs and the steps being taken to mitigate the risks involved. We have held a series of meetings on the subject, hearing from a wide variety of stakeholders. We hope that the Minister for Jobs and her two Ministers of State will provide us with an update on their plans for protecting our vital exports to the UK and limiting damage to the domestic market from imports. The Committee will continue to monitor the situation as events unfold.”

 “Our meeting with Mr. Martin Sisk provides members with a chance to engage with him on his plans for the Irish Auditing and Accounting Supervisory Authority. Following the discussion tomorrow, a decision will be taken by the Minister to confirm Mr Sisk’s appointment as chairperson.”

The meeting will start at 2pm in Committee Room 1.
