Housing Committee to address issues around vacant housing & derelict sites

31 Jan 2017, 15:08

The Joint Committee on Housing, Planning, Community and Local Government will meet tomorrow to discuss vacant housing, derelict sites and underused spaces.

31 January 2017

The meeting will take place in two separate sessions:

Session A: Dr Lorcan Sirr and Representatives from the Peter Mc Verry Trust.

Session B: Representatives from the Housing Agency and County and City Management Association (CCMA).

Committee Chairperson, Maria Bailey TD, said: “The focus of the meeting tomorrow is to examine how current programmes and schemes are addressing the issues of vacant housing and derelict sites. Returning these sites to productive use is one part of the suite of measures put in place to tackle the housing and homelessness problem. Our witnesses tomorrow will provide a valuable insight from their areas of expertise on this important issue”.

The meeting will take place in Committee Room 1, Leinster House at 9:30am tomorrow, Wednesday, 01 February 2017.

Committee proceedings can be viewed live here.

Committee proceedings can also be viewed on the move, through the Houses of the Oireachtas Smartphone App, available for Apple and Android devices.
