13 Feb 2017, 10:20

The Joint Committee on Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation will meet tomorrow, Tuesday, 14 February at 4pm in Committee Room 4, Leinster House.

13 February 2017

Agenda:

Banded Hours Contract Bill 2016 [PMB].

Session A: Representatives from the Irish Hotels Federation, the Small Firms Association, and the Restaurant Associations of Ireland.

Session B: Representatives from the Convenience Stores and Newsagents Association, Retail Grocery Dairy & Allied Trades Association, and Retail Excellence Ireland.

Committee Chair, Mary Butler TD, said, “Tomorrow our Committee will continue its scrutiny of the Banded Hours Contract Bill, proposed by Deputy David Cullinane. The bill aims to tackle the exploitation of people on low hour contracts, especially in the retail sector, but also across many other sectors.”

“Our meeting tomorrow will provide the Committee with a valuable opportunity to engage directly with representatives from some of the industries likely to be affected by the proposed legislation. Employers have concerns about aspects of the bill and we look forward to discussing these concerns in our scrutiny of the proposed legislation.”

Committee proceedings can be followed live here.

Committee proceedings can also be viewed on the move, through the Houses of the Oireachtas Smartphone App, available for Apple and Android devices.
