Jobs Committee to continue scrutiny of the Banded Hours Contract Bill 2016 (PMB)

The Joint Committee on Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation will meet tomorrow, Tuesday, 21 February at 11am in Committee Room 3, Leinster House.

The agenda for the meeting is as follows:

Hearings on the Banded Hours Contract Bill 2016 [PMB] (resumed):

Ms. Marguerite Bolger SC; Ms. Cathy Maguire Chairperson of the Employment Bar Association.

Committee Chair, Mary Butler TD, said, “Tomorrow the Committee will continue its scrutiny of the Banded Hours Contract Bill, proposed by Deputy David Cullinane. The bill aims to tackle the exploitation of people on low hour contracts, especially in the retail sector, but also across many other sectors. Our meeting tomorrow will allow us to discuss the legal implications of the bill with relevant experts.”

Prior to this, the Committee will scrutinise EU legislative proposals:
Schedule A: COM(2016)821 Directive on enforcement of the Services Directive; COM(2017)11 Directive to protect workers from carcinogens at work.
