The Ombudsman for Children, Dr Niall Muldoon, will be before the Committee on Children and Youth Affairs when it meets tomorrow at 1.30pm in Committee Room 1, Leinster House.

The Committee will consider the Ombudsman for Children’s Annual Report 2016.

Committee Chair, Alan Farrell TD, said today, “Scrutinising child protection and welfare policy is one of the cornerstones of the Committee’s remit. The Ombudsman is a vital player in the promotion and protection of children’s rights. Tomorrow, we will meet with the Ombudsman for Children to discuss the Office’s latest annual report. Committee Members will want to discuss the complaints process and the figures around how many complaints and of what nature were received in 2016. Incidents in Oberstown and the impact of the housing crisis on children are also likely to be on the agenda.”
