Finance Committee to examine National Children’s Hospital project with Secretary General

5 Mar 2019, 15:44

On Thursday, March 7, at 2:30 p.m., the Joint Committee on Finance, Public Expenditure and Reform, and Taoiseach will consider the role played by the Department of Public Expenditure and Reform (DPER) in the delivery of the National Children’s Hospital.

Scheduled witnesses include Secretary General Robert Watt and other DPER officials.

“The cost of the National Children’s Hospital has obliged the Government to divert 2019 funding from other capital programmes. This raises questions about many aspects of the project’s planning, procurement and financial oversight. The Committee will examine what lessons can be learned and applied to future projects as part of our discussions with senior Department of Public Expenditure and Reform officials,” said Committee Chairman John McGuinness TD.

The meeting in Committee Room 2 can be viewed live here.
