Vol. 127 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Great Northern Railway Bus Strike.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state the reasons why he has taken no positive action towards the settlement of the Great Northern Railway bus strike in view of the Government's decision to acquire the system; further, whether he is aware that, apart from busmen, Great Northern Railway staff connected with the operation of the bus services are receiving full pay from the company pending the settlement of the dispute; and, if so, whether he will indicate the sources from which money is being made available to meet these expenses and also the loss of revenue.

I would refer the Deputy to the reply which I gave to a similar question on 31st October last.

The Deputy is presumably aware that, at a conference on November 6th, a tentative agreement was reached which is now under consideration.
