Written Answers. - Limerick County Council Housing.

Mr. O'Malley

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state what proposals are before him with regard to housing from the Limerick County Council, and the present position in each case; and further, the number of houses under construction and their location, and what schemes have been approved by his Department.

Mr. Smith

No proposals by Limerick County Council relating to housing are before the Department for approval at present.

Twenty-four rural cottages are under construction in the county as follows:—

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state the estimated requirements of the Limerick County Council to meet the housing needs of the area; further, if he will state the housing requirements of each electoral area at the latest available date.

Mr. Smith

On the basis of the latest estimate furnished by the local authority, 353 new houses are required to meet the housing needs of Limerick County. No information is available in the Department as to how this figure is divided between the various electoral areas.
