asked the Minister for Education if he will state what proposals are before his Department regarding the erection of new schools in County Limerick, and the present position in each case.

Mr. Lynch

I propose, with the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, to circulate in the Official Report a statement giving particulars of the proposals for the erection of new national schools in the County of Limerick and the present position in each case.

Following is the statement:—

Present position regarding proposals for the erection of new National Schools in the County of Limerick.

Present Position

Rathkeale Convent Girls' and Infants'

The erection of these schools is well advanced.

Drumcollogher Boys' and Girls'

Tenders for the erection of these schools were invited recently by the Commissioners of Public Works.

Ballyhahill

Bills of Quantities are being prepared and when these have been completed the Commissioners of Public Works will be in a position to invite tenders for the erection of the school.

Some points in connection with planning have still to be settled. When this has been done the Commissioners of Public Works will arrange for the preparation of Bills of Quantities which is a necessary preliminary to the invitation of tenders for the erection of the schools.

The working drawings and specification have been prepared by the Commissioners of Public Works. The preparation of Bills of Quantities is held up pending the provision of a local public water supply from which it is proposed to obtain water for water-flushed sanitation.

Castleconnel Boys' and Girls'

A suitable site has been offered by the Manager for the erection of new schools. Working drawings and specification have been prepared by the Commissioners of Public Works. Certain other preliminary, arrangements have to be made before the Commissioners of Public Works will be in a position to invite tenders.

Rich Hill

A suitable site has been offered by the Reverend Manager but certain preliminary arrangements, which are being attended to, will have to be completed before the Department will be in a position to sanction a grant towards the cost of the new school.
