Vol. 268 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Fitzgerald Report.

10.

asked the Minister for Health if he proposes to implement the recommendations in the Fitzgerald Report; and, if not, if he will state the new proposals he intends to implement.

I would refer the Deputy to my comprehensive reply to a similar question on 28 March, 1973, and to my replies to various related questions since then.

In summary my attitude has consistently been that until the new administrative bodies in the health field had reviewed how the basic considerations in the Fitzgerald Report might be applied in detail in particular areas it would be premature to make any detailed pronouncements.

This process of consultation and decision-making was put in train when last month I sent to the chairmen and members of the health administrative bodies copies of my memorandum on the development of the general hospital services. A copy of this memorandum was sent also to each Deputy.
