Vol. 402 No. 9

Written Answers. - Tax Rebate.

Ned O'Keeffe

Question:

54 Mr. E. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Finance when a tax rebate will be made to a person (details supplied) in County Cork.

I have been advised by the Revenue Commissioners that the taxpayer ceased employment on 9 November 1990. The inspector of taxes has no record of a claim for a refund of tax from the taxpayer. However, as initial claim for repayment of income tax on the grounds of unemployment can only be dealt with at the end of the fourth week of unemployment, the taxpayer should be advised to complete and submit the relevant application form, form P50, together with parts 2 and 3 of form P45, i.e., cessation certificate, to his inspector of taxes at that time to enable him to deal with any repayment which may be due.
