Vol. 130 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Bank Overdraft Accommodation.

asked the Minister for Finance whether bank overdraft accommodation is at present being availed of by any authority under his control or on the board of which he is represented (other than a State-sponsored company); and, if so, to what extent in each case.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state what was the amount of the bank overdraft of each of the State-sponsored companies on the most recent date in 1952 for which this information is available and on the corresponding date in 1951.

I propose, with the permission of the Cheann Comhairle, to take Questions No. 10 and No. 11 together.

I have no information as to the extent of the overdraft of any of the bodies falling within the categories indicated by the Deputy other than bodies whose overdrafts are guaranteed by the State pursuant to statutory authority. The desired information in relation to these bodies is as follows:—

Are we to take it that the State is responsible for the interest charged on those overdrafts?

Is the Parliamentary Secretary in a position to indicate the total amount of interest paid in respect of the overdrafts referred to?

That is a separate question.

Is the Parliamentary Secretary in a position to indicate the increase in bank charges that will result from the increase in the bank rate?

That is a separate question.
