asked the Minister for Justice whether in view of the complaints of high ground rents he is prepared to institute an inquiry into the matter.
Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Ground Rents Inquiry.
The matter to which the Deputy refers is not one as regards which the Department for which I am responsible has any statutory powers or duties. I have, however, undertaken to make a preliminary examination of a report of an inter-departmental Committee on the question of whether a case has been made for new legislation as regards ground rents and rents generally. This report has only just been received. Until I have completed my consideration of it I should prefer not to make any further statement on the subject.
