asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state the average price paid to producers for the most important grades of wool of last season's clip; and the price obtained for the same grades of wool when sold to the manufacturers or exported.

The official statistics compiled by my Department relate to representative prices for wool, irrespective of quality. The representative prices paid to the producer for all grades of wool of the 1946-47 clip average 1/8¼ per lb. The average price realised for exported wool was 1/9½ per lb. I have no information as to the prices paid by local manufacturers.
