Vol. 126 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dance Hall Sanitation.

asked the Minister for Local Government whether, under the Local Government (Sanitary Services) Act, 1948, owners of dance halls have been compelled to install sanitary accommodation and connect up with the main sewer where available and whether there is a statutory distance such as exists for dwelling-houses, viz., 100 feet, within which the main sewer must be before the proprietor of a dance hall can be compelled to connect with it.

There are no specific provisions relating to dance halls in the Local Government (Sanitary Services) Act, 1948. Part II of that Act, which sets out the procedure in regard to Drainage Orders, relates to separate premises of all kinds which appear to the sanitary authority of the district not to be drained in a satisfactory manner. The cost of the portion of a drainage work which is within 100 feet of the premises must be met by the owner of the premises.
